Sira Veciana Muiño

CABA Pro Bono would like to whole-heartedly Thank Sira Veciana Muiño

Sira Veciana-Muiño graduated a Harlan Fiske Scholar from Columbia Law School in 1999 and graduated with Honors and Distinction in Comparative Areas Studies from Duke University in 1994. She is currently the Vice President, Business Affairs at Sony Pictures Television, Latin America and Brazil Networks (SPT), where she advises the company’s international television, online and mobile networks on a broad range of legal issues and negotiates and drafts a wide-array of entertainment contracts for the licensing and acquisition of programming and format rights, the production of television and digital content, and the development of properties into pilots and series for television, online and mobile platforms. Ms. Veciana-Muiño is also a dedicated mother and wife.

Although she has a very tight schedule, Ms. Veciana-Muiño contacted CABA Pro Bono earlier this year to say that she wanted to volunteer with the project and help make a difference. Ms. Veciana-Muiño pointed out that she had identified a very impoverished school in Homestead, Thinking Child Christian Academy, which was in desperate need of CABA Pro Bono services. CABA Pro Bono staff and Ms. Veciana-Muiño decided that given the needs of this community it would be best to organize an onsite legal clinic. CABA Pro Bono and Ms. Veciana-Muiño worked closely with the school’s principal for several months to plan the clinic that ultimately benefitted over 25 families. These families received free legal services in the areas of immigration, domestic violence, family law, and landlord tenant. All of the legal services provided at the clinic were very helpful to the families, and some were even life altering. Since the clinic, Ms. Veciana-Muiño, continues to volunteer with CABA Pro Bono as a pro bono attorney for unaccompanied immigrant minors.

Ms. Veciana-Muiño involvement is admirable. CABA Pro Bono is extremely grateful for Ms. Veciana-Muiño’s thoughtfulness and time. She is truly helping make Miami Dade County a better place by “Helping One Resident at a Time.”
